LAUNCH PAD REVEALS HIPP NEW BRAND WITH INTRODUCTION OF APPRENTICE CAMPAIGN

Hanover, ON – Things are HIPP in Hanover with the launch of a new retention and
attractions campaign. Hanover’s Innovative People Program (HIPP) is an initiative by
Hanover’s Economic Development team, to drive the recruitment and retention of
people, business and investment to the community.

The new program infuses creativity, culture and business with the tools to accelerate
Hanover to the next level. It encourages people to make Hanover their own, by
highlighting the cultural layers, business resources and career value. As part of HIPP,
resources were secured to invigorate the positioning of Hanover as a hub for
apprenticeships. The goal is for Hanover to become the Apprenticeship Capital of
Canada.

“Hanover is a huge advocate of youth in apprenticeship programs,” said April Marshall,
economic development manager for the Town of Hanover. “In a partnership with Launch
Pad to aid in our efforts to retain youth in our community, we will profile and build
community apprenticeship opportunities, as well as promote the process and skills
training, not only for youth, but for employers as well through the HIPP Apprentice
campaign.”

Launch Pad was chosen to help undertake this initiative as it is one of the organizations
most connected with Hanover and area youth. The new logo and brand was presented
at the February 22nd, 2022 Town of Hanover Council Meeting, in addition to introducing
a new official name - Launch Pad Youth Skills & Technology Centre. The new logo, like
the original, included youth input into the design, colours and concept.

“With its inception in 2015, Launch Pad has grown in its mission and its skill development
programming," commented executive director of Launch Pad, Emily Morrison. "With the
creation of the HIPP Campaign, and a focus on Apprenticeship, the
opportunity to present
a refreshed identity for Launch Pad that more closely aligns itself
with today’s youth and
the growth of our mission was an exciting process.”

Launch Pad invites youth and employers to an upcoming open house during March
Break, March 15-17th from 10AM - 2PM to learn more about these exciting initiatives
and to tour the many amenities of the facility. More information about this and Youth
Programming during March Break will be shared on Launch Pad's social media.

This partnership is working to change the perception, create awareness and excitement
among local youth about careers in skilled trades and local apprenticeships
opportunities. The goal is to keep our young people in the area, while building the
labour market to prevent skills shortages. This will be accomplished by getting as many
businesses involved through providing local training and apprenticeship programs.

Launch Pad is an innovative youth centre located in Hanover that empowers Grey
Bruce youth. We provide fun and inclusive skill building opportunities to promote career
discovery. By working with our community, we lead a team of experienced volunteers to
build a variety of skill sets to help our youth succeed.
